JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- In case you missed it, Dancing with the Stars was a big success this weekend. It raised about $45,000 for the NE Florida Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Jacksonville’s Undersheriff Takes an Early Lead in This Year’s
Local Dancing with the Stars Competition

(August 6, 2009) – Local celebrities of this year’s Dancing with the Stars competition have not only agreed to learn how to dance, look good at it doing it and to sell an audience, but have also committed themselves to raising money for this year’s benefiting charity of the competition, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). This year’s local celebrities are raising money through many creative outlets, but one has just taken the lead in a big way thanks to a corporate contribution made in his behalf.

On Thursday, August 13th CSX Transportation presented a check for $10,000 in support of Undersheriff Frank Mackesy to representatives of the JDRF North Florida Chapter. 100% of this contribution will go toward further funding research of type 1 diabetes and its complications, while also making CSX Transportation a presenting sponsor of the competition and adding major votes in the ballot box for Undersheriff Mackesy and his professional ballroom dance partner, Megan Wallace.

CSX Transportation, a long time generous contributor to JDRF, joins other event sponsors: Weight Watchers International, Nassau Printing, Three Layers A Coffee House, Tan-N-Go, Fringe Hair Salon, Rhinestone Dress Rentals, Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Boleros Grand Ballroom.
