Marsha G. Oliver, MBA, is President of O. Communications, LLC, a Jacksonville, Florida-based public relations firm specializing in strategic marketing communications, media relations, community outreach, grant development, and crisis management services. Prior to the 2007 launch of O., Oliver spent more than a decade leading the communications and development efforts for Duval County Public Schools, where she earned a variety of industry awards and secured more than $20 million in federal grant funds.

 

Oliver’s talent, leadership experiences, and creativity have earned her numerous awards and recognition as a top public relations professional (Council of Great City Schools); a Business Journal Up and Comer (2003); Super Bowl XXXIX Host Committee Program Chair; and a Rotary Foundation of Rotary International Northeast Florida Group Study Exchange team delegate (South Africa).

 

Oliver gained her exemplary skills and talent while serving in marketing communications capacities with leading corporations including Hershey Foods Corporation (Hershey, Pa.), where she led and supported international marketing launches, promotions, product sponsorships, community and public relations programs, and special events. Following an almost four-year career in Hershey, Pa., Oliver returned to her hometown of Jacksonville and accepted an account managerial position with a leading advertising and public relations firm, the William Cook Agency, where she provided public relations counsel to lead accounts Winn-Dixie, Scott Alarm, Clean Shower, Paine Webber, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. In addition, Oliver worked as a Public Relations Manager for a former CSX Corporation subsidiary, Adjunct Professor at Edward Waters College, and television co-host of a local news entertainment television show. Oliver currently serves as a columnist (Look Who’s Talking) for the Jacksonville Free Press.

 

Oliver earned a BA in Public Relations (cum laude) from Florida A&M University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix, where she was chosen to deliver the 2001 graduate commencement speech. Oliver is as equally committed to her community, as evidenced by her membership on a number of non-profit boards and organizations including Leadership Jacksonville (2001); Women’s Giving Alliance; MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation Board of Directors; Eartha M.M. White Legacy Board; Alfred University – Women’s Leadership Academy Board; Take Stock in Children mentor; the Bold City Chapter of The Links, Inc.; Jack & Jill of America, Inc.; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and others. In addition, Oliver is a certified Community Coach, designated by the Community Foundation of Jacksonville.

 

An avid runner, Oliver enjoys cooking, riding her Vespa, and advancing the educational and recreational interests of her 13-year-old son, Joel.
